If you've been looking for the ultimate South Louisiana fishing experience, this is it. Our Full Day + Night combo takes you from sunrise to well past sunset, giving you two completely different ways to fish these legendary waters. You'll start with a solid 5-6 hour rod and reel charter targeting redfish, trout, and whatever else is biting, then come back after dark for 4 hours of bowfishing under the lights. It's like getting two world-class trips rolled into one day, and honestly, it's become our customer favorite for folks who want to see what Louisiana fishing is really all about.
This combo trip is designed for anglers who don't want to choose between traditional fishing and bowfishing – you get the best of both worlds. We start early in the morning when the bite is hot, working the marshes and shallow flats where South Louisiana's top-rated inshore species love to hang out. You'll be casting lures, working soft plastics, and maybe throwing some live bait depending on what's working that day. The morning and afternoon session gives you plenty of time to dial in different techniques and hit multiple spots as conditions change. Then, after a break for dinner (on your own), we head back out as the sun sets for something completely different. Once it's dark, we fire up the lights and switch to bows for an action-packed bowfishing session that'll have you seeing fish in a whole new way. The lights attract everything from gar to drum, and there's nothing quite like the rush of drawing back on a big fish cruising just under the surface.
For the rod and reel portion, we've got you covered with quality spinning gear that can handle everything from schooling trout to bull redfish. We'll be working artificial lures most of the time – spoons, soft plastics, topwater plugs – but we'll switch to live bait when the fish are being picky. The key in these Louisiana marshes is staying mobile and reading the water. We might start on a grass flat in the morning, move to some deeper cuts during the heat of the day, then finish up around structure where the big reds like to ambush bait. When we switch to bowfishing after dark, it's a completely different game. We use compound bows with specialized arrows and reels, and the boat gets outfitted with powerful LED lights that turn the water crystal clear. You'll be able to see fish swimming around like you're looking into an aquarium. Don't worry if you've never shot a bow before – most of our guests pick it up quick, and we'll have you nailing shots in no time.
Redfish are the bread and butter of Louisiana inshore fishing, and these copper-colored bruisers are what most folks come here to catch. They run anywhere from slot-size fish around 20 inches up to bull reds pushing 40+ inches and 30 pounds. Spring and fall are prime time when they're schooled up in the shallows, but honestly, we catch them year-round in these marshes. What makes reds so special is how they fight – they'll make long runs, dig down in the mud, and test your drag like you wouldn't believe. Plus, they're not too picky about what they eat, so you can catch them on everything from gold spoons to live shrimp. Speckled trout are the other main target during the day, and these guys are pure finesse fishing. They've got soft mouths and like to hang around grass beds and drop-offs. The best trout fishing happens in spring when they're spawning and fall when they're fattening up for winter. A good trout runs 15-20 inches, but we see some gator trout over 25 inches that'll make your day. During the bowfishing portion, longnose gar become the star of the show. These prehistoric-looking fish can stretch over 3 feet long and cruise the shallows at night looking for baitfish. They're covered in diamond-hard scales and have a mouth full of needle-sharp teeth – perfect for bowfishing since you can't catch them on regular tackle anyway.
This combo trip books up fast, especially during peak season, and there's a good reason why. You're getting two renowned fishing experiences in one day, and we keep it limited to just 4 people so everyone gets plenty of action and personalized attention. Whether you're a family looking to try something new together, a group of friends who can't agree on just one type of fishing, or an angler who wants to experience the full range of what South Louisiana has to offer, this trip delivers. The variety keeps things interesting all day long, and by the time you're done, you'll have stories to tell for years. Don't wait too long to secure your dates – this is trending as our most popular trip, and the calendar fills up quick, especially for weekends and holidays.
